On 4 May 1988 shock waves from the series of powerful PEPCON explosions buffeted a Boeing 737 on final approach to McCarran International Airport seven miles away and cracked and shattered windows and blew doors off their hinges in a radius up to ten miles in diameter. It was one of the most powerful series of explosions in Nevada and in US history, completely leveling the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) chemical plant in Henderson, Nevada. The site is where the Valley Auto Mall is today. A significant portion of the Vegas Valley was affected by the powerful blasts. PEPCON disaster
Video from 5 years ago by Las Vegas News 3. Firetrucks were tossed around like Tonka toys from shock waves. Thousands of homes and businesses damaged or destroyed. Everyone in the Vegas Valley heard and felt the explosions that came like earthquakes. Fear from the mushroom clouds toxic chemicals overwhelmed local residents.

The company, Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON), changed their name to Western Electrochemical Co. OR WECCO and moved production operations from Henderson, Nevada to Cedar City, Utah where in 1997 another blast involving Ammonium Perchlorate killed again.
Cedar City Blast of 1997 Similar to the PEPCON Blast. Same company, owned by American Pacific Corp in Las Vegas, just changed their name. Or more clearly two separate companies with same or similar production operations owned by the same parent company.

The 28 January 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster Predates the PEPCON explosion and many believe the space shuttle disaster contributed to the PEPCON explosion because with the space shuttle program shutdown while the Challenger disaster was investigated the ammonium perchlorate PEPCON manufactured was stockpiled in mass quantities making the fuel for the fire and explosions far more dangerous.

There is a Bad Moon Rising in the Vegas ValleyPosted: 29/04/2023 Filed under: Las Vegas, News | Tags: Writing, Blogging, Writer, Crime, Murder, Homicide, Las Vegas Places 9th in Nation for Murder Rate, Crime Rising in Las Vegas Leave a comment
Las Vegas is clearly a dangerous place to live and visit. Visitors and locals alike need to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
There have been several recent attacks in and around Strip Casinos, in the Fremont Street corridor and throughout the valley.
There have been countless unprovoked attacks, random selection of victims of shootings, stabbings, gang fights and multiple other violent conflicts against tourists, residents, police, and many others.
Simply put, Vegas Valley is NOT a safe place to live or visit.
Still, more and more tourists are going home in body bags or with large medical bills after being attacked.
The attackers are becoming more aggressive, and their targets are easy prey.
The Vegas Valley flourishes for but one reason, the tourist trade. Some local residents detest tourists, and it is not uncommon to see bumper stickers with negative statements about tourist. While we cannot pry the truth from those people’s cold hard hands, the fact to the matter is, the Vegas Valley only survives because of tourists.
Las Vegas is the epitome for defense attorneys willing to defend the predators against the victims without shame. The vast majority of judges are soft on crime. The local prosecutors are substandard. The city and county officials are the utopians of Oscar B. Goodman’s Don of mafia hierarchy and his wife continues to reign the throne with more than a quarter of a century of Goodmans being overwhelmingly elected by a people who care not about victims, but only about leftwing politics that patronize the unions, the city, county and state public workers and the hundreds of nonprofits that flourish here unchecked, unbound and with pure impunity.
One such nonprofit has received over 50 million dollars a year from the people’s tax money and donations and funneled by city and country officials to the hands of the corrupt and criminal nonprofits and slumlord properties.
HELP of Southern Nevada takes in millions of dollars a year, fully funds clients that are violent, drug dealing and drug users, alcoholic and obese, freeloading on donors and the taxpayers, without any structure to guide these “clients” to a useful and productive life and without any agendas to move them into work programs and self-sustaining lifestyles.
There are hundreds of nonprofit organizations in the Vegas Valley with the top head skimming and scamming millions of dollars of the people’s money in their own pocket and no one is investigating them.
The IRS, which is supposed to govern these so-called charities, turns a blind eye.
I have tons of raw videos showing the drug dealing, drug use, prostitution, criminal acts, alcoholics, violence, and hundreds of able body persons riding bicycles, and doing things the “disabled” wouldn’t be able to do while they freeload the system you the taxpayers and donors fund, and yes, Martha, bodies being loaded in body bags right outside my window.
There is no will or desire to shut down slumlords or their illegal operations. The city, county and state benefits too much from them, the unions flourish because of them, and the public workers, nonprofits and medical professionals all make their living because of them.
The murders and the rising death tolls are nothing new to this 89101 zip code neighborhood which is DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. There have been runaway crime rates for decades and as long as the soft-on-crime judges prevail and the mismanaged METRO police department continues to run the way it has, that crime will continue to increase.
Smiling Joe Lombardo lied his way all the way to the Nevada Governor’s seat and now he is proud to claim his wonders worked in collaring crime in the Vegas Valley and greater Nevada. The truth is Lombardo, and his lack of experience and intelligence is the cause of constantly increasing crime in the Vegas Valley.
In 2010 this neighborhood in 89101 and 89106 in Downtown Las Vegas were listed as the 3rd, 4th and 8th most dangerous neighborhoods in the United States by the FBI.

Every day, first responders are on this property, police, paramedic, fire department and others, and no one reports any of the violent and life threatening or life taking activities… no one!
Many public records were falsified to cover up the continued crime and play it down. I have footage of serious gunfights and assassination attempts by drug gangs on this property that were never reported in the news or even significantly investigated by LVMPD under either Lombardo or Gillespie command.
If you don’t fight crime it is going to grow, and Joe Lombardo and his forces let crime grow and get out of hand and it is still growing.
But in all fairness, Vegas police were defunded and under funded like the rest of the nation’s law enforcement forces during this period of WOKE and soft on crime era that still continues despite more people are stuffed into body bags,
Am I recommending a DO NOT VISIT LAS VEGAS strategy? No, I am not. Rising crime and violence is growing all over America and all over the world. The powers that be force the rest of us to worship their crime lords and take a soft-on-crime attitude rather than have sympathy and compassion for the victims and their families.
Metro police department spends more time and taxpayer money on cons and ex-cons and zero on victim’s welfare. The entire utopia is the same way, many of them government agencies and government workers, public workers, creating nonprofits that channel millions of dollars into their hands to skim and scam while pretending to be doing something about the same problems that has existed for decades and will continue to exist.
These people retire years before the average private sector worker, with more money, more fringe benefits, and more luxury than most people can even imagine.
Some crimes are just unstoppable. Recently a government worker murdered a journalist who was writing about him and exposing his corruption. How could something like that be prevented? There have been many teachers and other public workers, police, firemen, and others, arrested for engaging in sex with minors and doing other evil things.
There have been a number of alleged suicides by government workers when the heat on them became too hot. I say alleged because sometimes these deaths are truly suspicious.
There have been several cases of public workers caught with their hands in the cookie jar stealing sometimes millions of public dollars, often on gambling and other vices. You seldom hear about these cases again. They often get lost in the news of forever forgotten.
Judges and DAs and other ranking officials have had their names in the news for one reason or the other.
One female public defender was discovered sleeping with her client, a gangbanger on trial for some crime and he became her “boyfriend.”
There is no stopping the adventures that happen in Vegas. Sometimes it stays here and sometimes it doesn’t. Since the invention of the internet and cell phones a lot more gets out than used to, but still there is an overwhelming effort to keep the lid on things.
Should you move to Vegas? I do not recommend it unless you do so by a job transfer, and then I would not pull up roots entirely in your old hometown, if that is where you are coming from.
The Vegas Valley and Alaska run neck-to-neck on being the number one place for spouse abuse and attacks on females. Divorce is as high as crime and often crime is involved in domestic disputes. One year Alaska leads. The next year Nevada leads and Vegas is the primary hot spot. These two leaders of domestic spouse abuse have teetertottered back and forth for decades.
Too, the Vegas Valley, like everywhere else, has mental health problems unshackled. The mental health problems are monumental, and growing. I have my opinions on this subject, but I don’t think the public has had enough violence to listen yet. Too frequently, case after case, the perpetrator is assessed and evaluated to see if he is competent to stand trial. More often than not he is not and that means he gets a lighter sentence and different treatment for being insane while someone who is sane that did something just as crazy meets his maker and judgment much quicker.
Our justice system is antiquated and while we frown on capital punishment, we call ourselves civil while innocent people are butchered in cold blood and tortured without defense or compassion as the predator gets the full support of defense lawyers, court law and soft-on-crime judges and a sympathetic society. The victim gets nothing except weeping family and loved ones.
I would seriously think of a different place to go if you have children. Vegas is hostile to children and children are victimized by a host of violent crimes, including at school. For the sake of your children, you need to give really serious thought before loading up the car and packing your stuff.
The Vegas Valley has been at the bottom of the list for schools and education, sometimes dead last. Drugs run rampant in schools. Racism is high.
Visiting and moving here are two different thing. What I would suggest is to take a leave of absence if you can from current work at the hometown, either move your things into a local storage or accommodate your home and possessions somehow. If you rent instead of owning it, it may be easier.
Then come to Vegas and rent an extended stay or low-term lease and settle in for a few months to see how it works out. You can always go back home or send for your possessions, and you will be on solid grown and be better informed. You may like it and may work out. You may not like it and you have an out.
Either way, you don’t box yourself in this way.
In the “Newsroom” link in the navigation bar, or menu are a few links to local news media, print and TV. Search your search engine and find many more and then tune in on a daily basis and monitor the crime happening here in Vegas and keep tabs on it. The murders, the robberies, the rapes, the whole busload of violence. That way when you come to visit you can have a better idea of what to expect and what to do to reduce your chances and your families chances of being involved in crime. Of course random crime, which is much of what happens in Vegas no one can be prepared for.
What Can I Do to Prevent Being a Victim of Crime?
- Research the internet until your fingers gets numb: “How to stay safe in high crime areas.” Write keywords similar to that and research all you can.
- Here in Vegas, travel in at least pairs or more. Never travel alone. Often multiple people are attacked at once here, but the sheer safety is in numbers. While one is being attacked, others should be on the phone calling 911. And know where you are at all times so you can leave directions to dispatch. Keep your phone on all levels for tracking and notification of location so police can track your pings.
- Search the local laws which change frequently and learn weapons restrictions. You cannot even have a pocket knife over three or four inches here. So be aware of your limits and plan ahead just how you will defend yourself if attacked.
- Often violence comes after arguments, and arguments come after people get drunk or someone says something to another that sparks anger. Try to avoid these conditions, which are difficult if you want to party and have fun. But keeping your mouth shut to others will probably keep you out of 99% of the trouble.
- Offenders are getting far more brazen than they were even just a few years ago. They attack in casinos, in front of security and/or police, they have no boundaries.
- Keep your batteries well charged on your phone and use the camera or video to record any attack while guarding your phone from being stolen. The evidence will be helpful.
- Staying in crowds is NOT always safe, criminals have knifed people on the Strip that were in crowds, complete random attacks. But being in crowds, again, leaves you with a better chance of getting faster help. But don’t expect a guardian angel as too often people just don’t want to get involved anymore.

Tanya Tucker: KindnessPosted: 11/04/2023 Filed under: Lifestyle, Lyrics-Poems, Music | Tags: Blogging, Country & Western Music, Tanya Denise Tucker: The Epitome of American Western Women, Tanya Tucker, Tanya Tucker Kindness, Tanya Tucker's New Album Sweet Country Sound, Writer, Writers, Writing Leave a comment
She’s on the road again…
Tanya Denise Tucker: The Epitome of American Western Women.
… and other stuff, including musing.
It was back in the year 1972 when I first heard Tanya Tucker sing Delta Dawn. It was the first time anyone in the general public heard Miss Tucker sing. And what a singer she would become.
I was 18. I graduated from high school, the year before, at age 17. Wow, what a singer she was and still is!
Tanya Tucker was just 13 when she recorded Delta Dawn on 17 March 1972. She released the 45 RMP record less than a month later and the whole world would get to hear the young, vibrant Miss Tucker’s voice. Delta Dawn was on side-A of the US single that would launch Tanya Tucker’s musical career. “I Love the Way He Loves Me” was on side-B of her first hit.
From then on it was country music history.
This year, 2023, Tanya Tucker was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. It is a well-deserved award for a career spanning over a half century. Tanya Tucker has won several awards during her long musical history. Indulge in the links I have provided here and spoil yourself.
I did not plan on writing a blog post today. I have too much other stuff to do that singularly and collectively are time consuming. But I was working on my writing dashboard Write On! blog that has tons of links to music videos I listen to while crafting masterpieces for your reading pleasure and sometimes horror. Somewhere along the day’s travel I discovered Tanya Tucker’s New Song, Kindness. It is on her brand new album, Sweet Western Sound, to be released 2 June 2023.
Write On! is currently a private blog and will soon be opened to the public as I show you some of the ideas, I offer you for writing that you can help yourself with.
But first, I am fighting many demons and gremlins within the WordPress system which I think needs new management. Today, I’m not going to bash the powers that be behind the iron curtain of the secret society within the WordPress tome-like platform. But I can assure you, as a lifetime top manager in business, I would never allow such substandard treatment of customers.
Some of you may be snickering, thinking perhaps I’m an idiot for not figuring out the most basic things one needs to function well in blogging. Know, you and everyone connected to WordPress and these Big Tech operations like them, are losing money and lots of it.
How do I know? Because if it bothers me, I know it bothers plenty of other people, too.
I know millions walk away from operations like this in frustration and never say a word about it. They don’t tell anyone like I do.
You lose readers. Advertisers lose revenue. That guy that sits high on his thrown in WordPress and other Oz-like worlds, or behind the curtain, never sees the failures operating behind the scenes that I see and experience in the front lines and trenches of the blogging warfare.
You lose followers. You lose readers. You lose valuable world communication because those who run like rabbits from foxes will never stay long enough to give your blog a read, let alone make comments to you. You are in the elite club, like the blue checks in Twitter, someone special. Yet you are trying to sell something to someone who has no ability to function where you are selling. And yes, many of you have “donate” buttons, PayPal, Go Fund Me and other ways to generate revenue for your writing. But millions will never see your work or contribute because the elitist club is not open to those millions.
If you notice my navigation bar up top is helter-skelter, totally unstable, and unmanageable. After working days setting it up in a better way, some secret villain within WordPress network or a demon or gremlin totally released bugs worse than the Downtown Las Vegas Maverick and Hidden Village bedbugs and cockroach infestation. To be fair, WordPress hidden village is not alone in the guilt. I directly blame every Big Tech and Big Telecommunications involved to have a hand in the substandard ways we as American and a world seem to tolerate. You know, Cox, Google, Microsoft, Firefox, Chrome, YouTube, etc., all of them. The Chain Gang. Or I should say, the BROKEN chain gang.
I have learned how to follow and like and add comments on some fellow bloggers’ pages, but not all is a success, and I’m still working on this major task, but here is the bottom line, then I’m getting back to Tanya Tucker because I feel much better praising people for their success than bashing unsuccessful anonymous creatures from the abyss.
I remember when blogging was easy. So easy anyone could do it. When you developed a navigation bar with parent and child structures it was quick and easy to complete. And then it stayed put forever. Or seemed so.
Following and liking and making comments was not complicated at all. It was easy. Anybody could do it. Quick.
The squirrels that bury their nuts are like the first mouse that gets greedy and grabs the cheese. The second mouse always gets the cheese.
How many millions of people just flat out refuse to take the BS Big Techs like WordPress dish out? Why do so-called educated behind-the-scenes anonymous individuals that cannot be personally confronted insist on burying their nuts when we need those nuts to make our nut pudding?
What People Are Saying About Tanya Tucker in Nashville
Well, thank God for Tanya Tucker and Jackie DeShannon and all those music generators, songwriters and singers that make our frustrated life so much easier and less complicated. We can enjoy their music and in the case of both those two ladies just named, Tanya Tucker and Jackie DeShannon and many others, enjoy it for more than a half a century. Don’t worry, country bumkins, your times coming. It’ll be here before you know it and then you’ll be in the Geezer crossing and in the headlights of some youngin whippersnapper, someday soon. Lifestyle of the geezer crossings.
They write easy songs, easy words, easy and peaceful music that is easy to understand and enjoy.
While on my Write On! excursion I discovered Tanya Tucker has two new albums recently released. Full albums, my goodness. Not just singles.
Yes, my fellow bloggers, I am into western music, western-genre reading and western writing as well. Being a multi-genre writer, I am a big fan of frontier justice when, at least in the imagination, we can create an escapist atmosphere and leave this brutal world at least momentarily and visit an even more brutal world hoping the AI patrols don’t find something wrong as they inflict 1984 Orwellian upon us.
Yes, Martha, Tanya Tucker.
I was inspired by the discovery of Tanya Tucker’s new original song, Kindness, from her brand new album, Sweet Western Sound, to be released on 2 June of 2023.
I vision myself writing a western story with a strong female heroine inspired from Miss Tucker’s latest creation. I often write as if I am creating a visual of a movie in the making. Who knows, maybe if I succeed, Miss Tucker could make the movie with her splitting imagine of self and the adorable costumes she uses in her latest promotions.
Be I ever get to where I am intended on going, Miss Tanya Tucker has always had my respect and honor. She was just a 13 year old kid singing adult themed songs and transpired that into a successful career.
And before I forget, if you notice many of the videos, I present here are published by Tanya Tucker herself.
If you like western music and if you love Tanya Tucker, hit the keyboards running and search up a new storm to find the material to bring you pleasure about her exciting life…and most of all, track her tour dates… she’s on the road again.

Happy Easter, My Friends… it is that time of the year again.
I have made some resolutions that are normally preserved for New Year’s, but Easter is a much more important day, and no other day is as spiritually powerful for embedding life-changing systems into one’s activity and regular schedule. Your lifestyle.
I will share these Easter-generated resolutions with you as time goes on, but not today.
Instead of plagiarizing myself, I will just present the link from my 2021 Easter post since much of the content remains the same.
I want to echo two years later what I said in 2021. Things are much worst now than they were two years ago. And certainly they are much worst than back in the year 1969 as you will learn the message from that era as you read down this post.
This year, the western churches, such as here in the United States, celebrate Easter on Sunday, 9 April 2023. Some Eastern Orthodox churches in the US practice the western culture to harmonize school children’s schedules and some practice both while others just the eastern culture. Easter is called Pascha in Eastern Orthodox Christianity and this year, Pascha or Easter is celebrated one week from the western culture on Sunday, 16 April 2023.
We are, here in the United States, the nation that stands for freedom, more than any other nation on earth. That is why we have so many immigrating here, legally, or illegally, to become part of the American Dream and to enjoy the unbridled freedom and the inalienable rights we are guaranteed as citizens. Instead of building the same kind of freedom system in their own country, they come here and create more problems for everybody, but there is nobody out there willing to teach the masses how to build freedom in their own backyard. Everlasting freedom.

A pioneer, “She was one of the first female singer-songwriters of the rock and roll period.”
We’ve become a complicated, frustrated, angry and hateful world with increased incivility, crime, corruption and tolerance for the villains and demons among us. If there was any one recording artist who sang out the epitome song she was Jackie DeShannon with her epic song “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”. Every word in that song, every beat and tune sings out the reality of what we must do to survive a catastrophic and decaying world. And she sang it back when females were unpopular in the genre and she became the first female singer-songwriter of the rock and roll era. “Put a little love in your heart, and the world will be a better place for you and me.” Nobody said it better. Jackie DeShannon co-wrote “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” with her brother Randy Myers and Jimmy Holiday. She released it in June 1969, 54 years ago, and still sings it today. Is the world listening?
American aspiration is destroyed without a unified effort to restore peace and kindness to our hearts. If we must remain in defensive mode to protect ourselves from vicious attacks from demonic predators, we see with firsthand knowledge that peace and kindness isn’t coming to our world but sheer chaos and catastrophic, irreversible warfare and conflict with lingering rivalry.
That is not the kind of world any of us want or need. Let’s listen to more mending songs like Jackie DeShannon writes and sings.
Happy Easter. Be safe. Have fun and put a little love in your heart.
It’s Raining in Downtown Las VegasPosted: 29/03/2023 Filed under: Big Tech,, Las Vegas, Lifestyle | Tags: Blog, Blogging, Blogs, Downtown Las Vegas, It’s Raining in Downtown Las Vegas, There’s no grass in the Vegas Valley, Vegas Valley, Writer, Writers, Writing Leave a comment
I like the rain. Not too much, though. Back home, in Upstate New York, in the Saratoga County area, I used to sit on my back porch with a beer and watch the grass grow.
There’s no grass in the Vegas Valley or very little of it. The not-so-wise powers that be are in the process of pulling out all the grass and anything that uses water. I’m going to see what I can do about stopping that since it creates extreme hazards, health hazards and environmental hazards.
We’ve had more rain this year than in some years past. We have gone nearly full years without rain. For more than a decade the Vegas Valley along with much of the west and southwest have been in a significant drought. Lake Mead and the Colorado River where we get our water from has been low for years.
Vegas originated as a dust bowl and will return to an unhealthy dust bowl if we don’t find some powers that be with something between their ears besides empty space. The Vegas Valley already has major health problems from the massive dust. Those powers that be I was mentioning don’t do anything about it and they always seem to be hiring construction companies constantly to tear up the valley and create more dust, year after year.
They’ll spend a billion dollars on a project and a year later come along and tear it up again. And then the next year the same thing.
One year it’s the water pipes. Then it’s the 100-year flood and there is nowhere for the water to go so they build washes. Then they take the washes out and dig up the whole system again, claiming the sewer system underneath is 100 years ago and needs replacement. Then it is to out in a new bus stops for this train-like bus. That idea only lasted a year and many of those new bus stops were abandoned or ripped out. Then it’s the water system again. Now they are doing the sewer system again and driving cockroaches and rats and all the other critters that live down in the underground underworld up into our environment. I could write a weekly column on that nonsense, but I have too many other subjects already on the table for my weekly columns and I don’t have enough weeks to launch them all.
Dark Skies and Cloudy Weather Don’t Always Bring Rain or Snow to the Vegas Valley, but the higher elevations like up in Mount Charleston, usually get some.
I have a trilogy of weekly columns in the work-in-progress stage concerning the Twitter disaster and the Musketeers. Now I have plenty of material for that kind of weekly column. I suppose I could for the dust monsters, too, but I’ll just write my criticism of those certain officials that have no idea pf the major health problems they cause or the environmental damage they cause by destroying the greenery in order to conserve water. No, they know. They just don’t care. Once they set their minds to the wrecking ball, things get wrecked and that’s just the way it is.
In Vegas, things are always destroyed and the new takes its place. That is the way is and has always been and probably always will be.
I have tons of videos that I can show you where here in the Downtown Las Vegas 89101 area, the Maverick has mega tons of water run offs daily from outdated and mismanaged sprinkler systems. That water is wasted and with the runoff washing the dangerous toxic chemicals and filthy debris from the ground surface into the drain system, they are carrying with it a chemical toxicity and debris pollution into our drinking water supply. Clogged up storm drains become a hazard when flooding occurs during the monsoon season. Nobody cares. Nobody does anything about it. There is no security on premise, even though management lies and claims there is, there is no one monitoring or detecting the water breach, except me, of course. Police, county workers, lots of people drawing official pay checks drive right past it, see it, and never report it to their comrades in their utopia. Nope, not the union worker’s job. So mega tons of water is wasted and it’s been that way here in Downtown Las Vegas 89101 at the Maverick for years and years. That’s just one single apartment building. All around the city are signs of major water waste coming from apartment complexes, auto repair stations, residential homes and just about anywhere one looks. The Utopians do nothing.
Complaints after complaints to the local and state officials have dropped on unconcerned, uncaring and nonperforming bureaucrats that are cluttering our government positions and that refuse to come out of their offices and investigate complaints. I will step up the heat and spark some flames under their lazy butts in the coming days and weeks, like a blow torch or maybe like one of Elon Musk’s Boring Company flamethrowers, so there then, I will have plenty to write about. Which means you will have plenty to read.
The federal government isn’t so concerned about the dust problems as it so broadcasts, so We the People need to protect ourselves.
Dust is a contributing factor to heart attacks. I have been hospitalized three times since November 2022 for heart failure and lung failure with the area dust in this apartment and this neighborhood for the past year, a major contributing factor, not to mention the busloads of chain smokers that congregate outside my windows. For years this apartment complex used landscapers that used giant leaf blowers to blow debris instead of rake, shovel and garbage cans. They blew huge dust clouds which contributed to major health problems. Air pollution is a significant cause of heart attacks and respiratory shut down. Not one politician or bureaucrat in Las Vegas, Clark County, even the entire state of Nevada did one things to stop this gigantic cause of health problems. But I did. I don’t know if I stopped it yet, but I slowed it down some. But I am not finished yet. I can only move so fast and do so much with my not-so-good health and trying medical conditions. I’ll get there, I promise you that.
All these government entities spend millions on advertising yakking about clean air, yet they are one of the contributing factors to the air pollution here in the Vegas Valley and have been for decades. The federal government is just as inept.
The fallacy of local, state and federal government and agencies thereof to be do any to protect and serve the people is disgusting. Unionized, over fed, under worked and lazy government bureaucrats clutter up our office buildings, provide themselves with perks and luxuries the private sector can only dream about, like four day work week, young-age retirement and every holiday off including stub-your-toe days. Yet we the people must complain again and again for them to move and get anything done. They are not proactive. They are frozen like figures in ice and need to chip away and find a spot to warm up the can with the heat creating flamethrower that melts that ice and frozen, non-performing state of uselessness.
I’ll be talking more about the water shortage. Let me correct that. I’ll talk more about the MAN-MADE water shortage soon. And man-made isn’t gender pronoun shameful, plenty of women cause the water waste and the shortage too.
As I move on to other subjects, just so you know, many people complain about the Bellagio Las Vegas, the hotel and casino operation wasting water during this decades long drought and water shortage, with their spectacular fountains and ponds, but the water Bellagio uses if from their own water source, not the public system.
A simple drive by of the Maverick Apartments and Hidden Village one can see the runoff evidence even when the water isn’t running off at the moment, but the washed away stones. How many millions of gallons are lost per year?
Who uses the most water in the Las Vegas Valley? Take a look for the surprising answers from two local news groups:

I spoke yesterday about Natalie’s and Edgar’s water. I forgot to say how much better their water tastes and what a difference between their water and the tap water, which has an awful taste, even after boiling. Natalie’s and Edgar’s water is much better than vending machine water, too, which is about the same taste as tap water. I’ll set up a quick review in the future and for you tourist I’ll give you directions so you can go off strip and have yourself some ice cream.
Lights flicking, so I kind of rushed this post between unreliable Cox Communication AKA Cox Cable and the shoddy grid here in the Vegas Valley afraid the internet will go down. We’re not much further again than third world’s countries when it comes to internet service. Hurrying to get this post finished and my breakfast done before the lights go out or cable goes down. Hurrying writing is not a good thing, I am going to work on getting posts pre-scheduled and done right. I need to work ahead of time with a couple days to rest the articles and edit them with a fresh mind before publishing them.
Today, if the Cox system doesn’t go down or the lights don’t go out, I will be trying to figure out how to follow my followers back and how to leave likes. I know Firefox has a bunch of popup blockers and when I shut them off I can like, but I can’t follow.
I’m too old to be energetic enough to startup a new tech company, and I lack the educational skill to put one together without a talented team needed to succeed.
It’s too late for me but the Consultant would tell you that you young whippersnappers could create user friendly blogging platforms and other Big Tech companies and compete with these tyrants. You don’t even need to compete with the tyrants, just cut yourself out a niche and a support following to fill it and make things user friendly, easy, clean, and non-oppressive.
Why hide so many key functions? Why bury the essential things we need to perform our tasks such as the logout button being at the bottom of the page or needing several clicks to get to it? Why take out an entire generation of users just to make yourself feel smart and so clever you infuriate the customers or clients that feed your face?
Your customers make your paycheck and if you don’t understand that basic business fact, you are in a whale of trouble. Make things easy for them, not complicated and you will increase your revenue several folds. Most people are NOT like me. They often will not complain or tell anyone of their frustrations and dissatisfaction, they will just leave and never look back.
I often get accused of complaining too much. I don’t. I complain with a reason and a will to see a problem solved. I either offer solutions for fixing the problems I complain about or I communicate my disappointment with the people who can fix the problem.
Don’t show me how to use the complicated way to do a simple task, like to follow back the people that follow me and like the people who blogs I visit and read and want to contribute to their community. Instead, explain to me why you destroyed the once so simple system to begin with? Why did you install the hide-and-go-seek system that insults me?
Sure, I can figure it out if I take all day. You don’t have the right to hold me hostage, Big Tech, and take all of my time up. Following indicators should be right next to the bloggers name, indicating if they are following you and there should be a follow button right next to that so you can follow back, instantly. Period.
To like someone’s post ought to be simple, a one time click and done. Systems should be compatible with each other, if they are not there ought to be a gigantic poster saying something like FIREFOX IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WORDPRESS. USE A DIFFERENT BROWSER.
Maybe Firefox has out lived its usefulness and needs to die off. I tend to believe Firefox is more to blame on the like button issue than WordPress, but I can’t make likes on any of my browsers. Again, unless it is the virus app, either way, their is communication problems between apps and systems that must be used together and that are incompatible with each other. It takes too long to figure out which company is guilty. That is not the way for Big Tech to treat their customers. They need to get together and learn the problems of their systems and platforms and fix them.
The problem with many Big Tech companies is that once they achieve ultimate performance the engineers and designers have nothing to do so they tinker with things, changing things and thus ruin the masterpiece they originally developed.
Open source or not, there comes a time when someone in top command must say, okay, this is it. We achieved state of the arts masterpiece don’t touch a thing. And be serious about it.
You youngins roll your sleeve up and go make the world a better place to live one step at a time. Just do it! Be a doer. Make things easy for people and not complicated and I promise you they will come running to you. Don’t copy others. That’s where misguided engineers fail. Instead of using their own innovations they copy others and usually they are copying bad systems. Be a leader. Be unique. I promise you, go back to basic and you will sleep better at night.
Because I am not a quitter and I go by the motto, never quit, I won’t quit. I will learn how to fix this substandard system of WordPress following and liking, be the blame with me, WordPress, Firefox, Chrome, Bing, Cox, Microsoft, my virus program and PC body guard, or some trolling gremlin. I will find the way. But even if I do, every word I said above still holds like concrete.
All you that follows me, liked my posts, I want you to know I appreciate it, I appreciate you and I am working on getting rid of whatever gremlin is interfering with our communication system.
Until then, stay dry. We need rain in the Vegas Valley and a lot of it. Not all at once. Just a nice slow drizzle for about 40 days and 40 nights. And people that are wasting water, STOP THAT!

Spring Is Here in Downtown Las VegasPosted: 28/03/2023 Filed under: Las Vegas, Lifestyle | Tags: Blog, Blogging, Blogs, Cliff Harrison, Greywater, Ice cream, Spring Is Here in Downtown Las Vegas, Vegas Valley, Writer, Writers, Writing Leave a comment
It was a warm, spring day today in Downtown Las Vegas as I went out for the first time in a while. I needed to refill my water jugs and stock up on my water supply. I will review the place I go to in one of the upcoming blog posts, but first I will get their permission. I’ve been buying my water off Natalie and her husband, Edgar, for some time now. Their son David often fills my water jugs for me, as he did today. He’s only 12 years old, but he is tall, mature and looks and acts much older.
I originally buy fresh one-gallon jugs of water from a local retail market and then refill them with water from Natalie’s and Edgar’s Mexican ice cream store. They have this huge water filtration plant and purification system at the back of the store and run a nice little family operation that is a pleasure to visit and do business with. They charge less per gallon of fresh, purified and filtered water than from those vending machines that simply tap into the city’s greywater supply that run through simple filters that seldom get changed. I refill eight one gallon containers at a time and since I use a walker that is all I can handle. They can fill any size container but besides the gallon jugs the 5-gallons containers are the most common. I can’t lift those big containers due to medical reasons. Since I push my walker and not lift the contents all at once, I can get away with what I do. I’ll get permission for a review, take some photos, and run a post or two shortly. But today was a good day to be outside. A great day, actually.
I usually stock up on 3-4 weeks of water supply. But I haven’t gotten out much lately due to severe chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia that has kept me bedridden more than functioning. One or the other is a trying dysfunctional condition, the two of them coupled with multiple other neurological disorders that I have including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Emotional Lability (not liability, but lability) are horrible to endure and places the inflicted in severe pain as well as many other sorry notes. Many with my condition either commit suicide or mass murder. I have never had an inkling to do either. I vent by writing and I hope to teach others, so they learn from the experiences of those who suffer from these horrible neurological disorders. No two people have identical experiences and the medical industry are lost on finding any hope for a cure or reliable treatment for any of the conditions. More than likely doctors misdiagnose or are clueless in what to do.
Anyway, for this post I took a break from using my verbal slingshot at the Cox Family and Elon Musk and all the others. But that won’t last long, I assure you.
It was good to get out today. I left home in a denim jacket that quickly grew warm. Vegas weather is unpredictable. You can lose a lot of jackets and coats by leaving home in a cool or cold morning only to have the sun rise and warm things up, so you take your coat off and leave it someplace it won’t be there when you go back after you remember you forgot it. I am enjoying this weather. It will be getting unbearably hot soon in the Vegas Valley.
Before I went to Natalie’s and Edgar’s I went to the Dollar Tree. I’m disappointed in that store which is often a good place to shop but sometimes trying. There is a huge turnover of employees and managers. Today was a whole new crew. Even my favorite people were gone. Many shelves were bare. This store is up and down on keeping things in stock.
Well, don’t tell anybody because I’m not supposed to have any, but when I went to Natalie’s and Edgar’s, I treated myself to an ice cream sandwich and boy was it good! What a lifestyle, huh?
Spring is here and one has to bring spring in with a little bit of self-celebration. Now, it is time for spring cleaning, ugh.
Changing the world, one step at a time.

Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com!
You registered on WordPress.com 13 years ago.
Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging
(I received this I think on the 7th of March and that would be the anniversary.)
LET’S TALK WORDPRESS AND THE INTERNET for a quick post.
I rose out of bed at 4:00 this morning. Put my coffee on. Fired up the computer. Started simultaneously doing other work. As many know, and posts will come with full discussions of the dysfunctions of two brain inflictions, (WordPress or Firefox does not want to put an “s” on inflictions which is plural, two things. I must turn off the spell checker because there is no “ignore this” option on this browser or blogging system.) chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Why was it so hard to get that simple, basic message out? I’ll repeat it to show the simplicity of the message and my point.
I rose out of bed at 4:00 this morning. Put my coffee on. Fired up the computer. Started simultaneously doing other work. As many know, and posts will come with full discussions of the dysfunctions of two brain inflictions, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Now was that paragraph that complicated to create? No, except the hostile spell checker does not like an “s” added to a word to indicate plural use. So, it puts a wiggly red line under the word to indicate it is spelled wrong and thus distracting the user from continued work. The user then must STOP and correct the problem. Either pacify the archaic spell checker, which nearly anyone you decide to use, no matter what system, will have this decades outdated malfunctioning blight, of disliking the added “s” that indicates plural, but you either pacify the spell checker and spell the word incorrectly without the plural indicating “s” or you disable your spell checker and miss many more.
That is one of many annoying things for me with using a word processor, a blogging platform or even a computer in general. What is wrong with this generation? And by “this generation” I mean anyone under 50. Okay, 40. No, make it 50. I have met some brilliant individuals in that category I would call the younger generation. But I have also met busloads of duds.
Now I am NOT picking on the “other generation” and I am certain it is NOT YOU, but those you ride the bus with, the little bus, or the big bus.
Or maybe it’s just me at the Geezer that needs to bring along a can of WD-40 to keep the joints from locking up. The one that holds up the fast lane.
We all experience three things. Taxes. Dying. And becoming old geezers, or just old. Unless we die young, which too many do, we all become old. So, those that disrespect the old now will have their turn.
What I don’t understand about this other generation is why do they make things so complicated? In my days the number one job a business had to do for their customers were to make it simple. Easy to use. So, anybody could use it with the least bit of trouble. About midway through the lifespan someone came up with the K.I.S.S. plan. Keep. It. Simple. Stupid. Now I am sure many got up in arms about that expression, especially the last word, and missed the entire point.
But why are today’s doers always making things so difficult? The logout button to every internet site used to be in the upper right-hand corner, and real easy to find. Click and you’re done. Now? Go to Amazon, Twitter and thousands of other places. To sign out, you need to go hunting to find the logout button. They keep you captive. Hold you hostage. For whatever reason, I don’t know. But they do. Twitter is worst with their sign in or login. It is at the very bottom and until you find it and know you will be hunting and hunting and hunting to try to figure out how to sign in. Why? Should we ask The CONSULTANT?
People, you don’t abuse your customers and clients that way. You make it easy. Don’t insult them. Don’t make things complicated.
HEY, I FOUND OUT HOW TO FOLLOW MY FOLLOWERS ON WORDPRESS. Finally!
Yeah, I kept clicking the follow button up in the top right hand notification box, and it doesn’t work. I tried everywhere and when I clicked the button, nothing happened. I thought it was Chrome because WordPress doesn’t like Chrome or Chrome doesn’t like WordPress. I tried Firefox, no go on the following, but it can do functions on WordPress Chrome can’t. Don’t ask me why. I gave up trying to guess what these Big Tech engineers were doing or trying to figure them out decades ago. But the follow problem was NOT my browser. IT WAS WORDPRESS. Why do they do this? Every time WordPress and every other site on the internet changed things, they made things WORST! You will never get 100% of the people to agree with that statement. You’ll be lucky if you get 50%. Some changes were really good. While others were really bad. And some downright ugly. The worst of the worsts were the changes that started hiding things and making thing complicated.
There used to be a follow button right under the top of the WordPress site you were visiting. There used to be a side by side, Follow and Following. Nice and easy. If you saw someone following you and you weren’t following them back, you simply clicked the button and done, you now followed.
A follower of mine named Stuart Danker has not only been following me for years, but also he had left a few comments. I could not find the way to follow him back. And I was disappointed at WordPress for creating such a nonsense system and always making it worst. I wanted to follow Stuart Danker and many others back as they followed me. WordPress, NOT my browsers made it exceedingly difficult. Another Big Tech outfit that if you don’t spend all day studying how to work it you will spend all day trying to fix what is broken. In the old days before the little guy became the rich guy, things were easy to figure out and you could get the job done in minutes, not hours. No more.
Simple operations are difficult to do and complicated with this generation of engineers and powers that be. It used to be easy to add color to text. Now to high light a piece of text in a simple color you have to go hunting again and figure it out. Now, if your luck is anything like mine, after you figure it out, they will go and change it and you have to figure it out all over again.
There is no like or dislike button on WordPress like there is on YouTube but the YouTube dislike button is just there to haunt you and remind you of back in the day when you were bad because you disliked someone’s video. Today, that dislike button does not function anymore than the WordPress follow button doesn’t work. Why?
Feedback is generally just as restrictive. Instead of YOU being able to tell what you like or dislike about a site, you are often restricted to a multiple choice of questioning THEY want you to answer. Or you are restricted to your word count, like if you cannot be allowed to take up too much of their time. Mind you, these Big Tech Tyrants get FREE consultation which they may apply and make millions without paying you a single dime. And, they give you this tiny little itsy bitsy window no bigger than the size of a pocket comb, and probably half that size.
The world has already gone to hell in a hand basket and we all know it.
Yes, I know, the old geezers and geese, raised the interest rates and then said inflation was coming. I know, I know, I know, if they didn’t raise the interest rates we wouldn’t have inflation coming. The Feds raised the interest rates nine times? I have a few of those riding my little bus, too. And then people making runs on banks which means the banks loose their main loyal customers who fear the bank will collapse, so they raise the interest rates on their credit and more flee the banks and looses more customers and all that nonsense is because of a few in power didn’t know enough to leave well enough alone.
…and they pass billion dollar anti-inflation bills that do what? Causes inflation. Yeah, I know the big bus is full, too.
If they would just let us follow each other without being so complicated maybe they would have twice as many users which means their revenue would rise, too. They remind me of squirrels burying their nuts. You do know don’t you, those squirrels never again find those nuts.
Remember, I told you I woke up at four this morning. The internet went out twice. Not once, but twice. Everyday Cox cable goes down. Just like every day the Maverick shuts the water off. Everyday. Someone has a leak. Old water pipes break. Mold becomes the norm. People get sick. And nobody knows why.
America has lost its edge.
