I’m Back: Surviving Again

Harrison, UMC, University Medical Center, Vegas Valley, Writing Leave a commentSome of my planned work has been interrupted with more trips to the hospital and medical clinics to endure still more health issues. I’ve taken a few rides in ambulances and gathered a few more notes on why the Vegas Valley needs a complete overhaul to any medical issues including first responders. I’ve been hospitalized three times since 4 November 22 and have a mixed opinion of much of the medical issues I experienced. But all of that will come later when I decide to write some critical essays on the medical situation in the Vegas Valley.
Let me remind you a few years ago there was a major exodus of some of the best medical professionals from the Vegas Valley and what remained is a trying experience. You might now get some good medical service, or you might get substandard. The latter is becoming the norm.
There is an old saying in the Vegas Valley about the medical care you can find here, it goes something like this: “To get good medical care in Vegas one has to go to McCarran.” Meaning get out of town. But since then, UMC has had opened an Express Care at Terminal 1.

Nobody seems to know what the word orthonym means. It means; when a writer uses a pen name or pseudonym and then he writes under his real name, he is writing under his orthonym. The real name of a person who uses a pseudonym is an orthonym. J.K. Rowling is the orthonym of Robert Galbraith. Washington Irving is the orthonym of Jonathan Oldstyle; Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, (even though the author is past tense, his work is still in the present tense), Stephen King is the orthonym of Richard Bachman. It’s great to learn something new, isn’t it? Books and reading teach you that!

Do you believe in Astrology? What is your star sign?
We are in the season of Pisces. 19 February to 20 March. I am not a Pisces, I am a Leo. I am a follower of Astrology and Horoscopes. Some think it is superstition. The fact is the stars and the universe for some mysterious reason influence our lives. The planets align or disarrange and it affects us directly. Sometimes. The position in the sky, in the universe, of the stars, the Moon, the Sun and the other planets affect us according to astrology. Sometimes. Sometimes the astrologers are all wet. Sometimes they are right on. Sometimes they fool us. Sometimes they surprise up. Sometimes they make us smile. And smiling is a good thing. Sometimes.
Astrology is therefore, the study of planets and human behavior. Some think astrology is pure hogwash. Superstition. Witchcraft. Nonsense. Like God and the Easter Bunny, no one has been able to prove one way or the other the believers are wrong… or right. Still there are believers among us. Just like The Big Bang Theory, they are all just theories. But many of us are serious theorists. It is speculation. There are investors. Speculators. Gamblers. And there is luck. Some are winners, some are losers. Some win big, some lose big. Some win it all and some win nothing at all. Where we align ourselves in our thinking is totally relevant only to our own piece of mind. It has absolutely no bearing on others. None.
Slavery
A civil relationship in which one person has absolute power over the life, fortune, and liberty of another. ~ The Free Dictionary.com
I like astrology. If for nothing more, it is entertaining. It’s fun. I like seeing how close the astrologer’s prediction comes. Sometimes they are right on. Sometimes they are way off. It’s like the roll of the dice, you can’t win them all. The fact the dice lands with a seven means absolutely nothing at all. What matters is how you made your bet and where you placed it. If your bet aligns with seven you win. If it doesn’t, you lose.
Astrology can be inspiration. If nothing more it can motivate you to work harder toward your own achievements. It can be like a cheerleader when you have no one to cheer you on. It can be like an inner voice whispering, “Yes, you can do it. Don’t listen to the nay sayers, listen to your Inner Voice.” That voice will repeat, “Do it! Just get it done! You can! You can do it! Now get going, take baby steps, get started, break your tasks down to little manageable tasks like Mark Twain said and get started on the first one. Get it done!” That’s what astrology can do for you. It can motivate and inspire. It can massage your mind and spit some steroids into your soul, like ether into the intake of a cold diesel engine that won’t start. It can put bounce in your heels. Give you drive and self-esteem. It can repair your cells and mend your DNA after the virus of a negative creature sprayed urine and scattered feces all over your picnic, your pet projects, your creations, your hopes and your dreams. Bastards!
You can renew yourself with astrology. Overhaul your broken heart. Restore your faith. Patch-up your shattered life. Rebuild what others have broken. Smashed. Nearly destroyed. Keyword, nearly. Yes, it’s all in the mind, but Henry Ford said if you think you can, you will and if you think you can’t, you won’t. Or something like that.
My daddy used to tell me when I was a boy, just before he died, “You are not a failure until you stop trying to succeed.” I always had people telling me I couldn’t do it. I always had people putting me down. I always had people bullying me around. I couldn’t achieve anything. I always came out the loser. I had the worst luck in the world. The light at the end of the tunnel was a fast-moving freight train. I had about as much luck as a horse in an Alpo can. Every time I found a four-leaf clover some damn goat ate it. The rabbit foot someone gave me for good luck the cat ate. But my daddy, my family and a few friendly souls that have come and passed in this life and my life, since, encouraged me on. I was a fighter. I learned to stand my ground and to fight for those who couldn’t, for whatever reason, defend themselves. I learned to think I can instead of listening to the losers who were calling me a loser. I learned to heal the hurt from the inside out, rather than the outside in where it never heals. And sometimes I failed. I failed miserably. I failed, but I was not a failure. I was not a failure because I never stopped trying to succeed. And horoscopes was one source of motivation and inspiration when I had no other. When I stood alone in the shadows of a blood bath and watched evil rise and swallow everything that was righteous. Just like that.
I generally prefer female astrologers. Over the years they have been consistently more accurate than males, at least in my experience and monitoring… and relating to my horoscope, the sign of the Lion, the 5th sign of the Zodiac. For years one of my favorite astrologers has been Rob Brezsny. He rivals my female favorites with consistently accurate predictions in my experience. You can find him in the Las Vegas Weekly near the back page. He’s been there for years.
“If you are not free, then you are a slave. Period!” ~Cliff Harrison
As I stated, Pisces is not my sign, Leo is. Pisces is the 12th sign of the Zodiac. Pisces is the sign of someone I know. Actually, Pisces is the sign of the Zodiac of several people I know, among them many friends, mostly female.
Among those friends is a freed female slave. A victor of freedom and independence. Slavery is being thirsty and being forced to suck on the sponge soaked in vinegar. The sweet taste of victory comes from witnessing a liberated Eagle being released from her captives and watching her spread her wings wide and lift into the skies of freedom and independence where she soars high. That’s victory. There is no sweeter taste than seeing freedom soar.
“Whenever a person is unwillingly controlled by another, be that by an individual, group, organization or government, then some form of slavery exists.” ~Cliff Harrison
A while back as I was commencing on a major declutter project in a seriously cluttered environment I came across a sheet torn from the horoscope page of some time ago. I had saved the entire page, but it was the Pisces horoscope that gave reason to save it. Ironically it corresponds with my previous post. I stumbled on this page once again and it stimulated the idea to write and publish this piece.
“Slavery is illegal everywhere and yet there are more slaves now that at any other time in history…” ~ Rob Brezsny
When zodiacal interpretations prove to come true it weighs meaning to the astrologer who predicted the forecast. It is nothing offensive to religion, Christianity or otherwise, as some proclaim. If you believe in God, then you must believe God created the universe and God rules the universe and guides its course. If you are secular, then there is no argument.
Some will. Some won’t. Somewhere some do.

Quotes and excerpts from FREEDOM & INDEPENDENCE by Clifford G. Harrison a soon to be released publication from Sunrise Mountain Publishing at Amazon.com/Kindle
“Just as society misses true figures on counting anything, such as the real number of homeless, the number of hungry, the number of poor, unemployed, needy, undereducated, it misses the true number of slaves in the world. I use one test and that test is will or willingness. Rather one is willingly consenting, volunteering or rather one is forced and dominated against their will into a particular situation, style and mode of life. Sharia Law, for example, enslaves millions of females, as does communism and often all such patriarchy. In both cases some females are willing participants, they are not slaves. In other cases many females are not willingly participating and are therefore forced by absolute power and control over their own liberty and destiny or the denying of them and they are therefore, indeed slaves.” ~Cliff Harrison
“All persons have the absolute right, the inalienable right, to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness which is to follow their own chosen dreams, to wear the clothes they desire to wear, to live and work and play according to the way they want to live, work and play without the say of anyone else. If they are unable to do this, freely and independently, then they are in someway enslaved to another. Except for minor children and convicted prisoners all persons are entitled to freedom and independence, free of tyranny, suppression or domination of any kind, including religious, political, social or criminal ideology. And, that ought to be an International Human Rights law enforced by the mightiest powers of the world.” ~Cliff Harrison

I closed the blog due to ongoing litigation. I have more active litigation now, than I did then. Most trial lawyers recommend a run silent, run deep social media mode once litigation is started. The reason is your opponent’s lawyers and insurance people will scrutinize your social media accounts so that they can find anything that you say and use it against you. Let them. I stand my ground. I was born with inalienable rights that no power can take away.
I wanted peace. I offered peace from the beginning. I gave them many chances for peace. They wanted war. Then so be it. It is war they shall have. I will give them a war they cannot win.
I was born under God, in a free nation that is symbolic for its unalienable rights carved into its constitution and documents of creed that provide the framework for the basic laws that govern all its citizens and the people of the world.
I was not born under the red flag with the yellow hammer and sickle that announces Communist-Marxism, nor will I bow down to it. Or, any other symbol of tyranny and oppression.
